Mary Mwiti is the Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Governors. Ms. Mwiti is a corporate governance professional with valuable industry expertise and a passion for prudent management with a proven track record spanning over 20 years of progressive experience in providing high-level systems and services, leadership for administrative functions.

In her previous capacities, Mary has worked in both the private and public sectors serving as a consultant undertaking assignments for organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, and County Governments. She also served as a County Executive committee member of Gender, youth, sports, and social services as well as the County Executive Committee member for Water and
Natural Resource Management during the first cycle of devolution. Before becoming the Chief Executive officer of the Council of Governors, she was the Director for Corporate services where her passion for devolution, and service to County Governments was recognized propelling her to her current position.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (HR) both from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Mary is passionate about promoting and supporting women, children, and vulnerable groups. She sits as a chairperson, of Real Achievers Enterprise: A registered women’s group responsible for the improvement of women’s livelihood through investment in high-yielding business ventures. She is also the Secretary, of Jitegemee Self Help Group a locally based group responsible for the improvement of girl–child education through school sponsorship programs and empowering women to start-up small-scale enterprises. Mary is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management in Kenya.
